If nothing else, Pradeep Kumar Walia has shown that he is very resilient. Throughout his life, he has demonstrated a great ability to overcome adversity. Just look at when he came to the United States from Calcutta, India with barely $20. Despite having nothing when he got here, he managed his resources well enough to obtain a stellar education, first with an undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock University and then a Masters in Business Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University. Both of those are first class universities.
That wasn’t the end of the inspirational story, however. Within a few years of obtaining his MBA, he established and built his own company, Atlas Software, into a $20 million tech success story. That valuation came less than a decade after arriving here with $20. It’s hard to turn $20 into $20 million in less than ten years, but Pradeep Walia did exactly that. However, as good as he is at making money for himself, his primary focus has always been on others. Back in the days when he couldn’t afford to donate money, he donated his time. These days, he uses his entrepreneurial skills to help those less fortunate to make money to lift themselves out of poverty. He also works with NGOs and other organizations in their efforts to improve healthcare delivery in underserved areas. Comments are closed.
